New Chute Installations

Chute installations - Laundry and refuse chutes are practical and hygienic, as well as saving time and money. They are the most convenient, simple and cost-effective method of managing hotel laundry and disposing of rubbish in buildings over two stories high. Chute Fire Certification UK® manufacture and install standard and bespoke circular chute systems across the UK.

Chutes may be out of sight in most cases, but they are an integral and essential part of virtually any type of high-rise building, such as multi storey apartment living, hotels, hospitals, and assisted living facilities.

Access doors

Every chute requires independently tested fire rated access doors.  At Chute Fire Certification UK®, we offer five different refuse hopper doorsets all manufactured in the UK and certified to a 2.5 hour fire rating (BS476: Part 22: 1987) to suit different chute diameters. We can also manufacture bespoke hopper doorsets where needed.  In addition to meeting British Standards, they are smoke resistant, fire resistant, vandal proof, flush fitting, self-closing and powder coated RAL7024 Ripple Grey.

To complete our suite of fire rated doorsets, we offer 1-hour fire tested Laundry Chute access doorsets undertaken to BS476: Part 22: 1987 by Warrington Fire.  Manufactured to order, these surface mounted Laundry Chute doorsets are powder coated RAL9010 Matt, have a flush lock and can incorporate an electrical interlock system ensuring that only one doorset can be opened at any one time.

Circular section steel chutes

We offer a range of circular section steel chutes with internal diameters ranging from 300 – 600mm. Chutes can be fitted internally or externally to new buildings, or to replace an existing chute system. We have specifically chosen manufacturers here in the UK whose engineering quality matches our high standards. Our chutes conform to British Standards BS1703, BS476 and BS5906 and are fabricated from stainless steel, with thicknesses ranging between 1- 2mm, dependent upon the site application.

Chute Fire Safe Protection System

We know that compartmentalising and sealing chutes remains critical in preventing a fire from spreading. Our high-performance, heavy-duty independently tested 4-hour Chute Fire Safe Protection System has been undertaken to BS476: Part 22: 1987 and has a 24-month warranty.  Each system is fabricated specifically to the requirements of each chute in order to meet the requirements of the latest British Standards.

The unique benefit of this system is that it acts as a two in one system. The two elements work together to provide the ultimate combination in passive fire safety; the first is an automatic interlocking blade that will close when temperatures reach 72 degrees. The second element is a separate chute closure door which is fitted at head heights to ensure easy access by staff.

The advantage of using a Refuse chute means that rubbish can reach the bin room in a matter of seconds. This prevents residents or staff dragging it through hallways or down fire escapes, accompanied by unpleasant smells and occasional leaks that require an immediate clean up.

It is easier and more hygienic to drop laundry down a chute in seconds rather than hauling soiled sheets and towels through the hallways and down the elevators past hotel guests.
